Fresh fish only stays fresh when kept refrigerated or frozen prior to consumption. Canadian Fresh Water Fish ensures safe and quality products are delivered to you in a timely manner. Once you receive your order, it is up to you to handle the product appropriately –fish needs to be refrigerated or frozen until you are ready to prepare and enjoy.

*Where products are delivered to secure buildings, the package may be signed for and accepted by the front desk. It is up to you, the customer, to retrieve items in a timely fashion. No refunds will be issued due to spoiling caused by issues post-delivery.

 

Proper food handling for fish

Fresh fish only stays fresh when kept refrigerated or frozen prior to consumption.

Raw fish will last 3-4 days in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer (2 months for higher fat content fish such as Lake Trout).

Like any raw meat product, surfaces used to prepare raw fish should remain separate from produce and other meat products, and should be cleaned thoroughly to avoid any issues with cross contamination.

 

Refunds

We ship our fish on dry ice, in insulated packaging. Canadian Freshwater Fish is not liable for orders that have not been retrieved in a timely manner*. Where products have completely thawed due to late delivery, we will arrange for a refund to be issued. If your package should arrive after the delivery commitment time, but the fish remains cold to the touch, it should be safe to eat, refrigerate or freeze for later consumption. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your products or shipment, please do not hesitate to contact us.
